Enhanced Tracking

Overview

Additional tracking parameters can be added to the Viator product links returned in the Tripadvisor Partner API. While optional, EAP parameters are a powerful tool to add further insight into the sources of business for your referrals to Viator. This additional tracking will appear on monthly remittance statements to enable you to issue payments at a very granular level. Partners can tailor tracking for the Brand and Subbrand parameters only. Recommended usage of the parameters is as follows:

AID Parameters

  • Non-editable tracking elements that ensure revenue generated from your traffic is properly attributed to your company. (Required)
  • Implemented as: aid=trip_cds_23456&MCID=11068
  • In the above example, 23456 is the Viator Account ID and 11068 is the Tripadvisor ID
  • These parameters are NOT flexible and should not be modified.

 

EAP Parameters

  • Provide additional tracking capabilities for brand, sub-brand/campaign, and property-specific logging. (Optional)
  • Implemented as a dash separated list: eap=brand-subbrand-accountID
  • In order for your eap tracking to roll up into your overall attributions, always include the numeric ID provided in your AID

Specific subbrand, property ID, or campaign ID that rolls up to the parent brand

This is a required component for the tracking to work properly with Viator. This ID will is shown in the last position of the AID parameter.

  • Be consistent with the order of the parameters, as it will always be provided this was on remittance statements and other reporting. Tracking parameters should be placed at the end of the URL. If you do not wish to use one of the parameters, insert a 1 in its place:
    • &eap=1-EMAIL-23456
    • &eap=AnyBrand-1-23456
  • Character Limitations
    • Maximum character count for eap parameter is 50 characters
    • Use alphanumeric characters only. Do not include additional hyphens in any of the parameters other than what is shown in the examples. This will break your tracking.
    • “&eap” must be in lowercase
